Our
Sea Scooters: Specifications
 |
The Tapered HDPE Versions (illustrated right) are 1 3/8 inch
shorter.
Color: - Black
- Speed: Nearly 200 feet per minute
|
Depth Rating:
On all versions of the scooter, the motor seal becomes at risk
beyond about 550 feet, the bodies are subject to bowing at 700 feet
and crushing at about 1100 feet.
In both the HDPE and PVC (nose and tail material) versions, the
flex will become an issue in the 900 foot range, which becomes a
moot point due to the risk to the seal and the chance of leaking
around the o-rings if the body flexes (a major issue at all depths
with HDPE bodies, which we do not use for that reason).
Between 450 and 650 feet, the flex in the PVC bodies is between
5/100 and 8/100 of an inch.
Both styles and all sizes come
with rewound motors, the same motors we use in the WKPP
Specification Comparison Among Different Lengths and
Styles:
As you can see, the HDPE versions are 1 lb.
lighter and 1 3/8" shorter.
| Style | Length | Weight w/o
batteries | Weight with
batteries | Burn
Time | | | | | | | Short HDPE | 28 5/8" | 33 lb. | 66 lb. | 60 minutes | | | | | | | 26 Amp Hour
HDPE | 35" | 37 lb. | 78 lb. | 90 minutes | | | | | | | Standard HDPE | 38 5/8" | 40 lb. | 92 lb. | 120 minutes | | | | | | | Magnum HDPE | 45 3/8" | 45 lb. | 105 lb. | 180 minutes |
With the pitch turned down, these burn times can be increased
significantly.
All Gavins use blades with steel inserts and a variable pitch slip
clutch.

Overall Maintenance
Information Either version of the Gavin needs little or no maintenance, but
there are certain things that should be checked periodically. We
highly recommend that you read and understand this manual fully to
ensure the proper functionality, performance and longevity of your
Gavin scooter. |
 |
When all is well
with your Gavin Scooter, the motor should NEVER get hot, never leak
through the seal, and never need any kind of servicing. These are
due to the continuous duty electric motors, which are highly
efficient. Contact us for
any and all questions on your Gavin Scooter. We will relay the
question to George and deliver an answer from him. George has
extensive experience so be sure to make use of that knowledge
base.
